He is God, He is Good
Is God really good? This question is common to Christians during hard life circumstances. The interesting thing is that sometimes this goodness is not appreciated during the good times. His goodness is taken for granted. The maxim “God is good, all the time,” has become a cliché in Christian circles and sometimes people use it without deep introspection of what it really means; God is good, all the time.
God is just good. Psalm 107:1- NIV says “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever.” Psalm 100:5 NIV says “For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all the generations.”
We cannot do anything to influence the extent in which God is good. After all, He is a good God, all the time.
God is good to everyone. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. He does not show favoritism; He loves each person equally. He is good to you; He is good to all.
The Lord is not good so that He can attract individuals to His kingdom. No! After all, there are people still in darkness yet the Lord is still good. He is good because it is His nature, His unchangeable, unchanging nature.
The better part of His goodness is that HE IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME. When you are happy, He is good. When you are prosperous, He is good. When things are working in your favor, The Lord is good.
When you are in pain, distress, worry, sorrow, sickness, even then, He is good.
When everyone has turned against you, when things are not working for you, when there seems to be no hope, The Lord is good.
Trust Him and cling on His goodness. When you do so, you will see ALL THINGS work together for good as in Romans 8:28.
